Permitting

2 Jan 2023 The city currently has very few items that require a permit. I believe that we should have a permitting process for all structures and certain other items within the city. Currently, I wouldn't even object to a $5 fee. The importance of the permitting is communication and avoidance of dilemmas caused by the lack of communication.

For example, the permit process would require that any new structure or remodeled structure would provide the location of the structure(s) and the identification by the owner of all underground utilities (existing or proposed) and easements. The owner would then have in their possession a reviewed drawing signed by a city official verifying the city utilities. This would insure that neither the owner; nor, the city would be surprised or be exposed to large costs to mitigate at a future time.

The permitting process would also address certain structures, such as modular home permits, in lieu of seperate permitting processes.
